An area in Colorado’s healthcare system that has potential for improvement and growth, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is prenatal care. A low number of women compared to other states, reported receiving appropriate prenatal care.
Colorado also has a relatively high number of suicides.

In current health news, hundreds of Colorado residents are mobilizing to protest the establishment of a uranium mine about seventy miles north of Denver. These residents have expressed concerns that the proposed mine will damage the soil and water and result in health problems. Powertech Uranium Corporation has responded that it plans to use a “closed-system mining process” that will eliminate any health risks.
