2008 Health Care Policy in Minnesota

Although it is true that some individuals need health care more frequently than others, good health care is something all of us could use. Individuals who live in Minnesota have the good fortune of seeing strong overall health care quality performance when compared with other states.

Minnesota Health Quality

One of the reasons for Minnesotas high health care quality is related to the policies of the state government. Governor Tim Pawlenty’s Health Cabinet deals with health care issues throughout the state. The general focus of the cabinet is to find ways to better serve the state residents with regard to addressing their health care needs.

Due to the actions promulgated by the Governor’s Health Cabinet, this state has seen a marked improvement in health care purchasing; more legislative and administrative actions taking place to regulate and improve the state’s health care; and development of new ways to offer health care to low income and uninsured Minnesota residents. The Governor’s Health Cabinet has four main groups within it, which work both independently and collaboratively to come up with even better ways to serve the health care needs of Minnesota residents.

Another current trend within the state is the desire to find ways to further prescription drug reform. In addition to government officials, privately organized groups within the state are hard at work to have prescription drugs become more affordable for Minnesota residents. As many require prescription drugs on a daily basis, looking for ways to make such items be affordable is a highly beneficial cause to support.
