Health Care in Nevada

There are various focuses within Nevada when it comes to health care. One such focus is on children and families. Another focal point with regard to Nevada health care relates to providing health insurance options for as many uninsured individuals as possible, whether they be married, single or large families.

Coverage and Policy in Nevada

One department set up by the Nevada government to aid in providing health care to children is the Nevada Check Up Program. The mission of this program is to provide inexpensive, comprehensive health coverage to children residing within the state. The program targets children under the age of 18 who are in lower income families, currently uninsured and not covered by private insurance policies or Medicaid.

The program's goal is to promote health care coverage for young individuals while also encouraging responsibility by the parents of the children. The program representatives also work with health care providers in the area to progress towards the betterment of health care options for the kids and promote healthier living overall.

Another current issue besides promoting health coverage for those under 18 in the state of Nevada is combating certain health care related problems which are prevalent throughout the state such as an abnormally high amount of uninsured individuals, physician shortage and low amounts of reimbursements for Medicaid. With the race for presidency under way many Nevada residents are citing their concerns with the current state of health care in Nevada and pushing for reform in this area. With that said, many Nevada residents are joining organizations to promote better health care and asking the government to make necessary health care related changes.
